CORE Ministry

CORE (small groups) is a ministry of Freedom Fellowship Church.  The goal of this ministry is ultimately discipleship through a focus of Caring, Others, Relationships and Evangelism.

This ministry allows small groups to meet in homes and at church throughout the week.  CORE provides an opportunity to study God’s word in an intimate setting on a small group level.  A small group CORE leader must be able to exercise hospitality as well as being able to facilitate the meeting.

The CORE focus is
Care (2 Tim 2:15)
Others (Matt 18:12)
Relationships (Prov 18:24)
Evangelism (Lk 10:2)

Why do we meet?  We meet in CORE groups for fellowship, to pray, to share the Word (Bible) together, to share and meet each other’s needs, to sing praises to God, to share a meal, to support and encourage one another, to share in a service or outreach project in the community, and to bring our friends.

CORE Focus

Care for the members of my group through Bible study that promotes Christ character and conduct.  Bible studies can be topical or Inductive.  Groups can also meet for a specified period of study or strategically multiply into new groups (ultimate goal).
“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Tim 2:15
Others focused (this means that “I” am not the focus).  Core members should be sensitive to the group needs and dynamics.
“What do you think?  If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?” Matt 18:12
Relationships developed through healthy interaction, transparency, and accountability (the goal is not always being comfortable).
“A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Prov 18:24

Evangelism - Every person attending CORE should be inviters.  Groups should desire to grow as disciples personally and to reach out to the community, to future believers and the unchurched.

“Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Lk 10:2

Other Benefits of CORE

Accountability – Relational accountability includes opening one’s life to a few carefully selected, trusted, individual confidants who speak the truth—who have the right to examine, to question, to approve, and to give counsel.

Encouragement – Having people full of the Spirit speak the word of life from God’s Word or the sharing of personal life stories of how God granted victory in one’s life.

Holy Spirit – God meets us in a way unlike any other within the context of CORE where He works in the unseen, hidden areas of our lives.

Growth – At CORE you will have the opportunity to grow spiritually and relationally and the body will grow numerically as people are obedient to the great commission and commandment (Matt. 28:19-20).
